RUBIRIZI,UGANDA – Ven. Canon Yorokamu Tayebwa, Archdeacon of Ndekye Archdeaconry, has urged women in Rubirizi to partner with their husbands to fight poverty and domestic violence and to work together to develop their homes and educate their children.
He made the remarks while speaking to Christians during a ceremony to welcome 10 women into the Mothers Union. The event marked the celebration of Maryam Day.
Rev. Tayebwa said women must know their roles and give their husbands respect and love. He stressed that cooperation at home is key to developing families and will help reduce poverty, hunger, and domestic violence, which he said often stem from lack of unity in homes.

He called on the new Mothers Union members to be good ambassadors, help the church restore families, and spread the word of God. He encouraged women to return to the Lord, grow in faith, and partner with their husbands to build peaceful homes.
According to Madam Tumuhirwe Claire, Mothers Union leader for Ndekye Archdeaconry, the Mothers Union trains women on their duties at home, teaches morals and proper conduct in the community, counsels families in conflict, and helps restore them so that all homes in Rubirizi can have peace.
Mothers Union members Alen Kayeba and Zaire Jenifer said the training was important and vowed to build peaceful homes. They called for stronger family unity to fight poverty and domestic violence, noting that their roles include respecting and loving their husbands and working together to develop the community.
