RUBIRIZI,UGANDA – Rugazi Catholic Parish joined the rest of the world in celebrating Uganda Martyrs Day.
Rev. Fr. Alphonse Mukundane, Parish Priest of Rugazi Catholic Parish, who led the Mass, noted that Catholics turned up in low numbers following Ministry of Health guidelines on the Ebola outbreak, including hand washing and social distancing.
In his homily during the Thanksgiving Mass, Fr. Mukundane asked believers to endure hard times and practice self-sacrifice, as the martyrs did in suffering leading to their death.

He urged Christians to embrace total repentance, discipline, and hard work, saying this is the only way to live a fruitful life on earth. He also called on them to stick to doing good, leave a positive legacy, and avoid exploitation.
“Love your religion and build your name in good faith so you will be remembered in the future,” Fr. Mukundane said.
He further urged parents to reconnect their families by reflecting on the values of compassion, love, and togetherness.
Meanwhile, Hon. Bijirwa Anthony, District Councillor representing Rubirizi Town Council, who stood in for Hon. Cadet Benjamin Buturo, asked residents to love God, show respect, and work hard.
“Since the election period is over, let us work together in forgiveness and reconciliation, and turn back to God for more blessings. Let the courage and faith of the Uganda Martyrs continue to inspire us with love, peace, unity, and unwavering faith,” he said.
