KAMPALA,UGANDA – The Opposition Caucus in Parliament, led by Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi, held a closed-door meeting to deliberate on several national issues, including the arrest of former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago by security forces.
After the meeting, Opposition MPs addressed the media and condemned what they described as continued intimidation, harassment, and unlawful arrests allegedly linked to the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Ssenyonyi said the conduct of some security officers was creating fear among citizens and urged Ugandans to speak out against what he termed abuses, regardless of political affiliation.

The Opposition leader also questioned the circumstances under which Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among and Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa were reportedly appointed by Gen. Muhoozi as his “special envoys in Parliament.”
Ssenyonyi revealed that he had written to the Speaker requesting an urgent recall of Parliament to discuss what he described as the “ongoing ill behaviours” of some officers of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces and the broader security situation in the country.
