PARLIAMENT — Hon. Cadet Benjamin Buturo, Member of Parliament for Bunyaruguru County, on Wednesday 21st October 2026 raised the concerns and development needs of Rubirizi District in Parliament, highlighting the district’s significant contribution to Uganda’s economy through coffee production, tourism and fishing.
However, he expressed concern over the limited benefits the district receives from the national resource-sharing framework, despite its contribution to the country’s economic growth.
The Honourable Member also presented several key priorities aimed at improving service delivery and promoting development in Rubirizi District:

1. District Hospital: Emphasised the need to establish a district hospital to strengthen healthcare services for the population.
2. Two Ambulances: Requested two ambulances to improve emergency response, including one specifically for Katunguru Sub-county to support tourists and residents in cases of medical emergencies.
3. Secondary School for Kichwamba: Called for the establishment of a second secondary school in Kichwamba Sub-county to expand access to education for local communities.
These priorities highlight the need for increased government investment in Rubirizi District to ensure that its people benefit more equitably from the resources and opportunities they help generate for the nation.
“Rubirizi deserves its fair share of national development,” Hon. Cadet noted.
