Rubanda Uganda – A first-year student at Kabale University, 22-year-old Victor Mugarura, reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Hamurara Cell, Nyamiyaga Ward, Bubare Town Council, Rubanda District on July 24, 2025. Police were alerted to the incident when the deceased’s sister found his body hanging from his bed after discovering his mother’s phone ringing in his room.
Preliminary investigations indicate Mugarura had taken his mother’s phone and vanished earlier in the day. Responding officers documented the scene, collected evidence including a rope and suspected suicide notes, and recorded statements from witnesses.
Authorities urge individuals facing difficulties to seek help from local leaders and relevant support services, emphasizing that suicide is not a solution.
