MITOOMA, UGANDA – In a heartwarming display of love and solidarity, the community gathered at Nyakagongo Ward in Mitoma Town Council on October 21, 2025, to bid farewell to the late Mzee Biterumurwa. The sendoff ceremony, attended by prominent leaders and family members, was a poignant reminder of the impact the deceased had on those around him.
Rev. Father Alex, officiating the ceremony, reminded mourners of the importance of faith and repentance. “Believe in God, our Savior, and He will guide you through life’s journey,” he said. “Be prepared for the call of eternity, for none knows the time of their departure. Repentance is key to clearing the path to heaven.” He emphasized the need for innocence and trustworthiness in our dealings with God and humanity.
Hon. Edgar Arinda, Mayor of Kasheeshe Town Council, described the deceased as a resourceful individual whose loss would be deeply felt by the community. He commended the family, particularly the children, for their unity in the face of adversity.

John Beturumura, the deceased’s son, expressed heartfelt gratitude to his parents for their unwavering love and support. He thanked the church for its solace during their time of grief and encouraged his siblings to join him in serving the living God. He also acknowledged his father’s struggles with lung cancer, which ultimately led to his passing.
Eng. Charles, another son, shared a bittersweet account of their father’s final days. He revealed that their father had been a hardworking individual who had been seeking medical treatment at Kampala International University’s Teaching Hospital (KIU). Unfortunately, he was used as a specimen for nursing and midwifery students, a situation that Eng. Charles urged parents to be aware of when seeking medical care for their children.

The family welcomed the large turnout, thanking the community for their support. They described the deceased as an innocent and kind-hearted person who had been devoted to his family. The elder brother of the deceased counseled the children to remain focused and work together to achieve their goals. “May the family find solace in their grief and may the deceased’s soul rest in eternal peace”.
