BUSHENYI, UGANDA – In a surprising turn of events, Jaffari Basajjabalaba has withdrawn from the Bushenyi District Chairmanship race. According to sources, Basajjabalaba made this decision after meeting with NRM National Chairman, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, alongside Resty Namutamba from Luuka District, who also withdrew from her race.
Basajjabalaba’s withdrawal comes after losing to renowned radio personality Twebaze Prosper in the NRM primaries. President Museveni commended both leaders for accepting to withdraw from the race, citing that it aligns with party principles and promotes unity.
With Basajjabalaba’s withdrawal, Twebaze Prosper now stands as the sole candidate for the Bushenyi District LC5 seat in the 2026 elections. This development is expected to shape the district’s future leadership and potentially impact various aspects of community life.

End.
