KITAGATA – A 28 year Old man has commited suicide while in custody at Kitagata Police Cells in Sheema district.
The deceased is Perez a casual labourer resident of Market cell, Malembo ward, Kitagata Town Council who ended his life on Saturday 8th June 2024 around 3am.
The deceased had been arrested today morning on the case of domestic violence under s.d ref 02/08/06/2024 reported by her wife Mirama Lilian. At around 2:00 am the suspect who was alone in the cells was heard talking to himself. At around 7:00 am, he was found hanging dead on a hand bag sling in the police cells. He tied in on the ventilator.
The scene was visited and processed by a corona Nakasita Sarah magistrate 1 Kagango court, Sheema district, Regional CID Officer Greater Bushenyi, District CID officer Sheema, district soco and a team and the body of the deceased was transported to Kitagata Hospital for Post mortem.
The Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Martial Tumusiime confirmed this incident to reporters stressing that inquiries into this matter are still at hand.
