OPINION – Corruption remains a bottleneck towards socio-economic transformation of Uganda and general national development. Trillions of Uganda shillings is lost each year through corruption.
Corruption is a moral disease. Its a microcosm of moral decadence in our country , an attack on our moral fibre in our society.
The corrupt grow up from our homes, churches/ mosques, communities, schools and universities but we ask our selves ; why do we have these corrupt folks in Uganda. Inculcating incorruptible mindset begins from our homes, corruption needs to be denounced in our homes, communities, schools, churches and mosques. We must raise a generation that takes corruption as evil .

As parents; we need to raise children with work ethics who are not parented to enjoy money but rather mentored that money is got through working hard.
Needless to say; over 12 million Ugandans own smartphones that can record audio voices and capture videos which can help citizens to have incriminating evidence tender in before courts of law to try the corrupt .Why should a contractor make a shoddy work while community people and leaders are watching, why should Health workers, school teachers etc absent themselves from places of work as community people and leaders watch without reporting them to their superiors.
Imperative to note also is that Ugandans should not be flim flamed that corruption can only be ended by changing government as if new government will employ heavenly saints. Its until we realise that each one of us has patriotic duty to fight it . To adumbrate it; by having a new government; it will be like handing over a corruption flag to new government.
As we buy sweets for our kids to give to fellow pupils to be voted school prefects, give money to our secondary children to be voted prefects, university children to be voted guild representatives, as we absent ourselves from work but get monthly salaries…pay money to have shortcuts in life, bribe to avoid traffic fines, get jobs …..pay and cheat exams for our children; we are sowing seeds of corruption .
Fighting corruption begins from our homes, how we parent our children, what we preach / teach in churches, mosques ,schools and communities. Raising incorruptible citizenry begins from solid parenting in our homes ,promote spirituality and patriotism among citizenry.
Let us all be agents of corrupt free Uganda we wish to see in our country. Incorruptible citizens dont come from heaven; its our generational and patriotic duty to inculcate incorruptible virtues in our children. It begins from our homes, churches/ mosques, schools and communities. Morally upright citizens are never corrupt. Corruption in Uganda is microcosm that our country’s moral fibre is under attack. Its now or never to cleanse it. To claim that government should solely fight corruption is sawing sawdust. Every Ugandan is a moral soldier to fight corruption. The fight begins from where you are standing. The moral army( citizenry) has no audacity to allege government has failed to fight government when it has all weapons to fight it i. e laws are clear to fight corruption, anti- corruption bodies are there to attend to corruption cases.
The corrupt are economic terrorists to our country. They deny us better service delivery and better future of generations to come.
