NTUNGAMO,UGANDA — Ntungamo District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Namanya Viola Buroko, has launched a district-wide borehole renovation and construction drive aimed at improving access to clean and safe water.
The program was launched in Ngoma Parish, Nyakyera Sub-county, Ruhaama East, where several non-functional boreholes are currently being rehabilitated.
For years, residents of Ngoma have struggled with acute water shortage, forcing them to walk long distances in search of water and rely on unsafe water sources.

Residents have welcomed the intervention, saying it will ease the burden on women and children who bear the brunt of fetching water, and reduce cases of water-related diseases.
Speaking on behalf of the Woman MP, her political assistant Mr. Gordon Kasule said the project is part of Hon. Namanya Viola’s manifesto commitments.
“This is a fulfillment of the pledges Hon. Viola made during her campaigns. Access to safe water was a major concern raised by residents, and she committed to addressing it,” Kasule said.
He added that the exercise will be rolled out to other sub-counties across Ntungamo District to ensure all communities have access to safe water.

Hon. Namanya Viola is known for her community-based interventions in health, education, and water and sanitation, and residents say this water project is a timely response to a long-standing need.
