RUBIRIZI,UGANDA – Rubirizi District’s Assistant Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Kakoni Mathias, has strongly condemned domestic violence and family conflicts, highlighting their detrimental impact on children’s education across the district. He issued a stern warning that parents neglecting their duties will face arrest and prosecution.
Speaking to parents and teachers at Kicwamba Primary School, Mr. Kakoni stated that the RDC’s office is receiving numerous reports of domestic disputes stemming from a lack of cooperation between parents. He emphasized that these conflicts disrupt children’s learning, often leading to students arriving at school distressed and lacking basic necessities.
He urged parents to foster unity, work diligently, and prioritize their children’s education and welfare. Mr. Kakoni specifically condemned the practice of withdrawing children from school to marry them off at a young age, labeling it a detrimental act that lowers educational standards and contributes to school dropouts, in addition to violating children’s rights.

According to Tukundane Eugine, the Inspector of Schools in Rubirizi, parents were appealed to live in peace and love, provide for their children’s educational needs, and ensure they grow into responsible and useful citizens. He reiterated that both the government and the Rubirizi education department will not tolerate parental negligence, warning that any parent failing to send their child to school will be arrested and brought before the courts.
Meanwhile, Madam Tumuhirwe Rose, Headteacher of Kicwamba Primary School, explained that the parents’ meeting was organized to celebrate last year’s academic achievements and discuss existing school challenges, including dropouts, late arrivals, non-payment of school fees, and child labor, in order to find effective solutions.
