SHEEMA,UGANDA – Sheema Territorial Police are investigating circumstances surrounding a suspected murder by hacking that occurred on the night of June 2, 2026, at Katojo Central Village, Katojo Parish, Masheruka Subcounty, Sheema District. The incident was reported to police on June 3, 2026.
The deceased has been identified as Tuhaisomwe Edrida, 45, a resident of the same address.
The suspect, Muhabwe Innocent, 34, husband to the deceased, was arrested and is currently in police custody.

Preliminary investigations indicate the incident arose from a domestic dispute. Earlier on the same day, the deceased had reported a case of failure by her husband to provide basic necessities for their children.
Following a police summons requiring him to report on June 3, 2026, the suspect allegedly became violent, threatened local leaders, and damaged the area chairperson’s banana plantation.
It is alleged that later that night, before police could be updated on the new offences, the suspect armed himself with an axe and fatally attacked his wife at their home.
Police visited and documented the scene, recovered the suspected murder weapon, and conveyed the body to Kabwohe Health Centre IV for postmortem examination.
“We strongly condemn all forms of domestic violence and urge members of the public to always seek peaceful and lawful means of resolving family disputes,” said SP Tayebwa Apollo, Greater Bushenyi Region Police Spokesperson.
Investigations are ongoing, and the public will be updated on any significant developments.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray for the eternal repose of the deceased.
End.
