Bushenyi,Uganda – The Bushenyi District Council has been adjourned till further notice, following protests by councillors over the laying of the budget framework for 2026-2031. The councillors demanded explanations for the delayed approval of the District Service Commission members they had nominated, citing corruption and bribery allegations.
Outgoing Chairman Lc V, Jaffari Bassajabalaba, attributed the delay to a query by officials over corruption allegations, while Mr. Kakonge Apollo Lee of Western Ankole Civil Society Forum accused the district chairperson of soliciting bribes. Lee urged the council to reconvene and complete the budget process, warning that a government can’t operate without a budget.
The controversy surrounds an audio leak where a nominee, Barahuka Denning, allegedly admitted to paying a bribe for approval. The district council’s term is ending soon, adding pressure to resolve the issue.

Thank you Mr lee
