RUKUNGIRI, UGANDA – The Rukungiri territorial police are investigating the murder of 38-year-old Okello Dismus, a casual laborer who worked for Mrs. Rwemereza Annet. His body was found in Omukayaga Cell, Kyabahanga Parish, Bwambara Sub County, on September 25, 2025.
Circumstances of Death:
Okello was last seen guarding timbers at his employer’s residence in Kyehunde Cell, Bwambara Parish, after Mrs. Rwemereza left him at 7 pm on September 24, 2025. When she woke up the next morning, Okello was nowhere to be found. Later, she received information that her worker had been found dead along the way at Omukayaga Trading Center.
Investigation Underway:
The area Chairman, Bazirake Godfrey, reported the incident to Bwambara Police Station, and a team of officers, including the K9 unit, visited the crime scene. Although the K9 unit was introduced to the scene, it did not yield any positive results. Statements have been recorded from witnesses, and Okello’s body has been conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Center mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
Police Appeal:
The police are appealing to anyone with information that can lead to the identification of the culprits to come forward and volunteer it. “Inquiries are at hand,” said ASP Maate Elly, Kigezi Police Spokesperson. The police are working to bring the perpetrators to justice.
