RUKUNGIRI – Police in Rukungiri have registered a fatal road traffic crash involving motorvehicle registration number UBC 786B m/fuso white in color and a commercial/residential building that claimed lives of three people.
It’s alleged that, on the 06/04/2024 at around 2pm while the afore mentioned motorvehicle was coming from Rukungiri side loaded with cement and iron sheets heading to Kihihi, when it reached in a place called Kakirago cell in Bugangari sub county, it developed a mechanic fault, swarved off road and knocked two children dead who were moving at the road side coming from the church.
It continued and also knocked a building where it found the owner in the shed and knocked him dead and it over turned at the very point.
The Kigezi Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the incident to this website. He identified the the people who lost lives as;
1.Ahimbisibwe Darius aged 5yrs old son of Turyaikayo Rauben resident of Nyakinengo.
2.Ainembabazi Sarah aged 8yrs daughter of Mugisha Bernard resident of Kakirago cell.
3.Karwemera kyoti aged 60yrs resident of Kakirago cell, who was the owner of the same house.
The driver of the vehicle is on run. Scene was visited, bodies were taken to Rwakabengo mortuary pending post mortemand theVehicle towed to police parking yard pending iov inspection as inquiries into the matter continue.
