Sheema, Greater Bushenyi – A renewed spirit of cooperation between the police and the community is blossoming in Greater Bushenyi following a successful community engagement initiative.
On Thursday, May 8th, 2025, the new Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson, SP Apollo Tayebwa, held a meeting with residents of Kitagata, addressing key safety and security concerns.
The meeting, which took place between 2 pm and 3 pm, focused on fostering a stronger partnership between the police and the community.

SP Tayebwa emphasized the importance of collaborative crime prevention, urging residents to act as the police’s “eyes and ears” by reporting any instances of unprofessional conduct, particularly involving intoxicated officers.
Sp Tayebwa who is also the new Community Liaison Officer stressed the need to combat corruption, encouraging both police and members of the public to reject bribery.
Further promoting transparency and accountability, SP Tayebwa encouraged residents to actively monitor government programs and to shed any unwarranted fear of the police force.
The initiative resonated strongly with the community, with the majority of attendees pledging their support to the police and expressing a commitment to reconciliation.
“This engagement reflects a significant step forward in building trust and cooperation between the police and the community,” said SP Tayebwa.
“The overwhelming support we received from the residents of Kitagata is a testament to their desire for a safer and more secure environment.” The initiative marks a positive development in the ongoing efforts to strengthen community-police relations in Greater Bushenyi.
