Rubirizi, Uganda – Hon. Haji Muhammad Katoto Kato, Member of Parliament for Katerera County, Rubirizi District, has donated UGX 2.5 million towards the construction of a main hall at Mugyera Primary School. This contribution underscores his commitment to improving educational infrastructure in the region.
The donation was made during a fundraising event attended by parents, teachers, students, and other community members. Speaking at the event, Hon. Katoto urged parents to actively support government initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, including schools, roads, and water projects, emphasizing education as a crucial family investment.
He called on parents and former students to actively participate in school rehabilitation through community engagement (“burungi bwansi”). He stressed that building schools and ensuring access to education is a shared responsibility, not solely the government’s burden.

Hon. Atwib Katoto, former MP for Katerera, also present at the event, echoed these sentiments, urging political leaders and residents to collaborate in building better educational facilities.
He emphasized education’s role in overcoming poverty and ignorance, advocating for community support to complement government efforts. He also called for unity within the community as elections approach. Hon. Atwib Katoto contributed UGX 200,000 to the fundraising drive.
