National – Uganda Airlines is undertaking a significant investment to bolster its operations and fuel ambitious expansion plans.
The national carrier will construct a new $50 million (Shs 183 billion) aircraft hangar at Entebbe Airport, drastically reducing maintenance costs currently accounting for 20% of its budget.
This move, part of a 10-year strategic plan, will allow for in-house maintenance, eliminating the need to send aircraft abroad and saving considerable foreign exchange.

The investment complements recent developments including the launch of a direct flight to London Gatwick and plans for new routes to Accra, Jeddah, Riyadh, and Cape Town, along with the acquisition of new aircraft and a passenger hotel to further enhance profitability and efficiency.
By the end of the decade, Uganda Airlines envisions a network spanning 32 to 35 destinations.
End.
