Rubirizi, Uganda – A mother to a 03 year old girl on Saturday February 2024 ended her own life by suspectedly taking Poison.
The deceased is Ashabahebwa Shivan 19 years a Munyaruguru by tribe, resident of Katara II Village, Katara Parish, Kichwamba Sub County in Rubirizi district.
It’s alleged that on 15th February at around 6pm, Twinomujuni Jonuariyi (Father-In-Law) of the deceased went to Boreka Vicent (Chairman LC1 Katara Village) and informed him that he suspects Shivan to have taken a poisonous substance.
He explained that he did not know what happened as he found her behind the boys’ quarters breathing badly without energy, and then he rushed her to Rugazi Medical Centre for medication where she was later pronounced dead.
A report of suspected suicide by poisoning was registered vide Rubirizi DEF: 004/2025 and inquiries commenced by a team of detectives visiting and documenting the scene.
Samples of body organs were retrieved and will be forwarded to GAL for Toxicological analysis. However, no container of the alleged poison was recovered.
The Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Marcial Tumusiime confirmed the incident stressing that inquiries to retrieve the postmortem report which has already been done and know the exact cause of death are still at hand.
