GREATER BUSHENYI – Police in Buhweju are investigating circumstances surrounding the mob action that resulted into death of one person and another one now nursing serious injuries.
The incident(s) happened on Sunday 3rd November at around 01:00am in Nyabugando B Cell, Karungu Parish/Sub County in Buhweju district.
The deceased is Tumwesigye Amon 38 years resident of Ntorobo B Village and the victim who is receiving medical treatment at Nsiika Health Center IV is Kanyankore Kanzira a shamba boy in the home of Kamasaza Evangelista.
Relevant witnesses say that unknown people broke into Kamasaza’s kitchen and found the victim sleeping, they cut him with panga several times and he made an alarm that attracted residents for his rescue.
The residents responded in a mob and arrested one Tumwesigye Amon(deceased now) leaving him in an unconscious state. It was until police from Karungu station came to the scene and rushed both the victim and the suspect assailant to Nsiika Health Center 4 for treatment though the assailant was later pronounced dead.
A report of Burglary and theft was opened at Karungu Police Station vide: 03/02/11/2024 and later Buhweju Station CRB 427/2024 for further inquiries .
The Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Marcial Tumusiime confirms the incident stressing that inquiries to trace for the rest of the assailants to answer attempted murder charges and tracing for the suspects of mob action are still at hand.
