BUSHENYI – Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality is one of the three constituencies that make up Bushenyi district. Other Constituencies are Igara West and Igara East.
Created in 2009, the Municipality status commenced as the district was being split into five districts (four new districts of Buhweju, Mitooma, Sheema and Rubirizi.
Another point to note is that Bushenyi that was cradle of the UPC Party in Western region was created in 1974 out of Mbarara district.

The main City for both Bushenyi district and Municipality is Ishaka approximately 62 km (39 miles) by road, west of Mbarara and only 6 Km (4 miles), west of Bushenyi and covers approximately 81.29 square kilometres.
Bushenyi Ishaka Municiaplity is made up of only three divisions including Ishaka, Central and Nyakabirizi with sixteen wards and atleast 73 villages.
Interestingly, ever since the Municipality was created, no any Member of Parliament has ever served for two terms (10 years).
Here is the list;
2011-2016 Hon Odo Tayeebwa, 2016-2021 Hon Arinda Gordon Cowboy, 2021 to date Hon Derrick Kabuura Beimukye.
This means, if Honourable Derrick Kabuura wins the 2026 Parliamentary bid, he would be in the line of creating his own history in the Municipality since the next term of service will be ending in 3031.
However, favour looks not to be all that on his side as a youthful and courageous new comer Hajji Iddi Basajja has already hit the ground with many voters looking at him as their possible next representative.
Iddi Basajja 34 years is a son to El Hajji Hassan Basajjabalaba who is a prominent Ugandan businessman and diplomant with a bold reputation and great legacy in the whole of Ankole region.
This website cannot independently scan the predicted results but expects a tough competition. But if the voters maintain the policy of “one term for MP”, Hajji Iddi Basajja stands as the immediate answer for them now.

End.
