GREATER BUSHENYI – Police in Buhweju district are hunting for people who allegedly assaulted a suspected thief to death.
The deceased is Kiiza Loius 28 years a resident of Rwomushojwa Cell, Kashenyi ward, Kashenyi -Kajani Towncouncil in Bushenyi district whose body was found lying in a bushy banana plantation of Kateeba on Thursday 24th October 2024.
Its alleged that on 21st October 2024, the deceased had been arrested by locals with one Nuwarinda Robert alias Kirido for stealing chicken of one Rose a resident of Katabogo-Kijumbura, Bihanga Sub County.
The two suspects were assaulted from the home of Frank Ainemukama Kashaija, Later, Nuwarinda was recovered from the near by bush by his relatives and taken to his home but Loius was not seen until when he was discovered dead after a long search.
Police was notified by Abenawe Everlyn 53 years mother of the deceased, officers visited the scene, documented it, recorded relevant statements and conveyed the body to Nsiika Health Center 4 for postmortem.
The Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Marcial Tumusiime confirmed this incident to press stressing that inquiries into the matter are still at hand.
