NATIONAL – Leaders of various institutions have been challenged to prioritize securing title(s) for their operational land(s).
The institutions mentioned include Local Council headquarters, churches, schools, government hospitals, market places among others.
This message comes from Buhweju County MP Hon Francis Mwijukye who recently sustained serious head injuries in alleged land wrangles between church and a certain individual in Buhweju district.
Hon Francis Mwijukye was speaking to a congregation at Nyakishojwa Catholic Church Parish in Kabira Town Council, Mitooma district on Sunday 15th September 2024.
“We have seen these things where by some one donated land to church or school in a good heart but later passed away and his siblings now claim ownership of the land and are chasing away beleivers/followers , so church leaders should rush and secure titles for such lands”, Mwijukye explained.
He further requested the government to give out free land titles to such institutions arguing that if a person can donate land then nothing stops the government from donating titles.
This idea was also boldly supported by Hon Ashaba Paul (MP Kyaka County), Hon Captain Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda (MP Ruhinda South), Hon Agasha Juliet Bashisha (Mitooma District Woman MP) among others.
