KABALE – Police in Kabale have arrested five suspects for maliciously damaging and stealing the property of Government of Uganda worth shs 225.750.000= (Two Hundred Twenty five million, Seven hundred fifty thousand.
The suspects are beleived to have conspired between July and September 2024 within night hours and maliciously damaged street lights in Makanga Cell, Rwakaraba cell, Rushoroza and Nyabikoni in Kabale Municipality.
The suspects are Ampeire Gerevazio alias Muhumuza 18 years from Kabale district and other residents of Rubanda district including; Muhereza Martin 28 years, Mirembe Esera 40 years, Habomugisha Gerevazio 40 years and Arinaitwe Edita 22 years. Another suspect Nuwamanya (husband to Arinaitwe Edita) is still atlarge.
The suspects were arrested through intelligence tip off and during the arrest, a search that was conducted led to the recovery of two solar batteries from Mirembe Esera and Muswaza respectively.
The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Asp Elly Maate confirmed the arrest of the suspects stressing that inquiries into this matter are still ongoing.
