MITOOMA – Police in Mitooma district have detained the former Mitooma Town Council Mayor Mugarura Alfred and and his contracted engineer on allegations of child sacrifice .
Mr Mugarura Alfred a reknown business man in Mitooma, owner of moonlight bar and side view motel all in Mitooma Towncouncil together with engineer Tito Tumwine who was contracted to construct a block at moonlight bar were all arrested by security operatives on allegations that they sacrificed an 11 months old baby identified as Jessen a child to one of the workers in his bar.
According to information got from the father of the child Christopher Atwine, “In the night Sunday the child got lost from one of the rooms in moonlight bar where they searched until they discovered that the body was thrown into the compound forced them to report the matter to police for action. Police swang into action and arrested the owner Mugarura Alfred and all his workers to aid into investing”.
The Mitooma Resident District Commisioner (RDC) Francis Kibuka Amooti confirmed that he got informed about the incident noting that according to the information they are getting there was some alleged child sacrifice thus condemning such acts in the community.
Speaking at the burial of the child, Nyambwoha David, Chairperson ward 1V Division noted that after the postmortem that was done at Mitooma heath centre 1V not being clear, they were forced to go for another one at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital and it confirmed that the children was hit on head to allow the flow of blood out of the body.
Meanwhile, Albert Kakwenzire, Current Mayor Mitooma Towncouncil distanced himself about this information though attributed it to political wars and asked every person(s) who have any required and essential information about the reported death to give it to police to help in the ongoing investigations .
