BUHWEJU – Police in Buhweju district are investigating circumstances surrounding the mob action that led to the death of an 18 year Old teenager Akaknkunda Alex a resident of Kyanika “A” village, Nyakaziba ward in Nyakaziba Town Council.
The deceased is a son to Byabagambi Januario (complainant) aged 47 a resident of Kyanika “A” village, Nyakaziba ward, Nyakaziba Town Council in Buhweju district who was killed on 18th June 2024.
Its alleged that the deceased got misunderstandings with people who were in a bar at Kasirya Trading Centre and later he started throwing stones at them and accidentally one stone which Alex threw hit Forgod Patrick’s wife (Karungi Evas) and caused a minor injury on her face, the husband mobilized other people who followed Alex and arrested him, then assaulted him to death in the compound of Forgod Patrick.
The (suspects) later carried Alex’s body and dumped it in a rocky pond of water (ebinyungu bya mugasya) in Karengyezo village, they wrapped it in a crop drying tent. One vigilant area defense person Ngondwa Posiano coordinated with the father of the deceased who then reported the matter to police leading to the arrest of five suspects and subsequent discovery of the deceased’s body.
A case of murder was registered, scene of crime visited by officers from Buhweju and Bihanga police station together with the D/soco and the postmortem was done at the scene of crime and yet to be retrieved from the doctor.
The Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Marcial Tumusiime confirmed this incident to our reporter stressing that inquiries into the matter are still at hand.
