KAMPALA — As Chairperson for Gender Affairs at Buhweju Community Transformation Initiatives Limited (BCTI) and Woman Member of Parliament for Buhweju District, Hon. Nnamara Annet Oyes Byamukama, also known as Omuteganda, is among the delegates attending the National Women Leaders Conference in Kampala, convened by the Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE) and partners.
The conference is being held under the vision: _”A just and fair society where, in all spheres — public and private — women and men in all their diversities share equally in decision-making.”_
Hon. Byamukama said the theme resonates deeply with her dual mandate in Parliament and in the legal fraternity, where she continues to champion justice, equality, and the meaningful inclusion of women in governance.

“This vision aligns directly with my work both in Parliament and in court — fighting for justice, equality, and ensuring that women’s voices are not just heard, but respected and acted upon,” she said.
She noted that empowering women in leadership is not merely a matter of representation, but a catalyst for national transformation.
“When women lead, the nation moves forward. The struggle for an equal future continues,” Hon. Byamukama affirmed.
The National Women Leaders Conference brings together legislators, civil society actors, and gender advocates to deliberate on strategies for advancing inclusive leadership and dismantling systemic barriers to women’s participation in decision-making.
