MITOOMA – Mitooma district Woman Member Of Parliament Honourable Agasha Juliet Bashiisha is concerned about the spread of HIV amongst the People of Mitooma notably, Kashenshero Sub County.
Health Officials recently released a report showing an increased number of new HIV cases in the area which they attributed to poverty, ignorance and social cultural norms.
At the National Level, Health Officials say atleast 25% of new cases between 2022 and 2023 were people between 15-35 years with HIV prevalece in women increasing rapidly.

Speaking to residents of Kitojo in Kyanzeire, Kashenshero Sub County, Mitooma district recently, Hon Juliet revealed that as per Mitooma district Health report, Kashenshero Sub County has an alarming number of new HIV infections.
“they did a mode of transmission HIV study in our district, they found out that the new HIV infections are highest in Kashenshero more than other parts, iam telling you the truth”, Hon Juliet said.
She advised Ugandans that though they are enjoying festivities, they should mind about their Health because HIV/AIDS is there and killing many people world wide.
“So many people don’t want to talk about AIDS, they don’t want to talk about sex because it’s something that is not supposed to be talked about, but at the end of the day some people are aventuro and they even inject money to find what it is like”, Hon Juliet Bashiisha added.
Hon Juliet says most of the people even refuse to test for HIV or seek medical advice arguing that this vice should stop because the Ugandan Government is determined to save lives of its citizens.
End.
