Ntungamo,Uganda – Ntungamo District has received 335,050 treated mosquito nets from the government as part of a nationwide campaign to strengthen malaria prevention.
Receiving the consignment, Deputy RDC Ntungamo Atuhaire Rosemary cautioned the public against diverting the nets for fishing, fencing gardens, or other non-medical uses. She warned that security agencies will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute individuals found misusing the nets.
District Health Officer Dr. Bahati Amon tasked parish chiefs and Village Health Teams to mobilize communities and set up the necessary logistics to ensure smooth distribution at parish and village levels. He emphasized timely and transparent distribution to reach all targeted households.

Speaking on behalf of Chief Administrative Officer Deus Byaruhanga, officials urged residents to use the mosquito nets strictly for their intended purpose: protecting families from mosquito bites that transmit malaria.
The consignment to Ntungamo is part of a wider government program to distribute 4.8 million mosquito nets targeting over 8.1 million people across 32 districts, including Agago, Amuru, Gulu, and Ntungamo.
Malaria remains one of Uganda’s leading public health challenges, and the mass net distribution campaign seeks to reduce transmission, especially among vulnerable groups such as children under five and pregnant women.
