Rubaare, Ntungamo – Residents of Kamyenda Rukiri 1 village in Rubaare Town Council were left shaken after an unknown elderly man was found dead on Wednesday, 23rd April 2026, with a rope around his neck.
Eyewitnesses say the man is not from the area, fueling anxiety amid a recent rise in killings across the community.
Some residents called for harsh action, citing signs at the scene. However, LC1 Chairman Mr. Karuhanga urged restraint and asked police to step up efforts to fight crime and address the root causes of such incidents.
“Our community is hurting, and we need answers,” Karuhanga said. “We can’t take the law into our own hands. We need the police to investigate and find out what’s going on.”
Police were yet to arrive at the scene by press time. Investigations are expected once they do.
The incident has heightened security concerns in Rubaare Town Council, with residents demanding urgent action to restore peace and safety.
