KANUNGU – The territorial police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances under which three people were allegedly murdered.
The first one is Arinaitwe Simple 45 years a resident of Ibumbwe village Kishuro parish Katete sub county, who is alleged to have been lastly seen at Kojo’s bar on the 23/04/2024 together with Godfrey Kamugisha a teacher, Innocent Tayebwa and Dickson Tayebwa, but on the 24/04/2024 at around 06:00am was discovered dead lying along Mutojo Ibumbwe road.
The deceased is believed to have had money because was dealing in cattle and was a money lender.
It’s further alleged that on the 24/04/2034 at around 1:00pm when people learnt of Arinaitwe ‘s death, suspected those who were with him, an angry mob went wild and arrested Godfrey Kamugisha a resident of the same address, during interrogation with them, he revealed his other associates and was lynched.
Police were alerted, rushed to the scene but found him already dead , instead rescued Innocent Tayebwa in critical condition and died moments later from Kambuga hospital where he was rushed.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate sayd one suspect was arrested to help in investigations.Inquiries are still underway.
