MBARARA – UGANDA
Bright Muhumuza, National Unity Platform (NUP) coordinator for Ankole sub-region, and the former Mbarara City South Mp Candidate on the National Unity Platform tickect in the recent general elections was abducted on January 14 while on political work in Mbarara.
Muhumuza has Thursday, January 5, 2026 appeared before the Mbarara Grade One Magistrate’s Court.
He’s accused of reckless driving, allegedly endangering SP Kenneth Kabwigo Gumisiriza, Mbarara City Division DPC.
The case has sparked concern over Muhumuza’s disappearance and treatment.
He has been charged and remanded until February 11, 2026
And this is when his bail application will be heard.
