BUSHENYI – Many people have a belief that African herbs/remedies heal various diseases or infections though others bias them due to modern science.
But what is always impossible is possible to most herbalists who are said to be the back bone of most pharmaceutical companies across the whole world though they are always hidden in darkness and even under the feet of the pharmacists.
Recently as the world battled Covid-19, in Uganda a certain proffessor connived with local herbalists from different parts of the country and they came up with a brand “Covidex” that restored hope amongst Ugandans about their local herbs capacity to heal many diseases. Indeded, Covidex played a big role in fighting the hardly healed virus that had put the whole world at stance.
But the question still stands; , who will help these people with local herbs so that they can be trusted on their own land with the environment where most of them are not even given a chance to mention their capacities in Public. This is because the modern science remain confused and with the foreign sciencists knowledge, these locals with knowledge of mixing various herbs to come up with healing remedies are even considered “magicians” and even some end up fearing to speak out because of the unfavourable environment and conditions.
We have visited Madam Veneranda(herbalist) from Kibatsi, Kigoma in Igara West Bushenyi district and we found alot of people getting treatment while others were busy poundering and mixing different herbs to come up with healing products.
We talked to her and she has a dream of making a good/big African medicine Center but she still lacks enough capital and equipment to pursue her dream.
The truth is that various patients told us that they are depending on her remedies and herbs and they dont always speak about it in public due to the fact that they always think the practice is illegal at some extent. We could not independently confirm the illegality of the vice.
We are also impressed by her garden where we found various planted herbs beleived to be healing the most African disturbing diseases such as cancer, malaria, typhoid among others.
